Dear Ford

Saw a relative of your's the other morning.

Oh, how I long to drive you again, my dear 'ol pal, F-150.

And, boy how I yearn for some of that Alaskan air and snow about now!

Half Way

In case you cannot tell... these are the legs of our nearly 20 week old baby.

I'd like to think that s/he is doing a little jig in celebration that we are half way there!

Home is My Island

The movie Cast Away was on TV the other week.

Holy cow, I couldn't believe how much I related to the character being stranded on that island.

Perhaps it is because I am home alone all day with the kids and we try to survive through the day and then start all over again trying to survive through the next day like Chuck Nolan.

Constantine and Simeon are my "Wilson(s)" and Pudge is the trusty windsail that washes ashore every evening.

O Captain! My Captain!

Last night, my old high school headmaster passed away after a long battle with cancer.

I cannot begin to explain to you how much he and Trivium school changed my life. So much so, I am who I am today because of my eye opening experience in that small town of Lancaster, Massachusetts.

He was smart, creative, and faith filled. He was intimidating and just yet loving and calm.

He introduced me and my family to the Novus Order Latin Mass, long skirts, classical polyphonic music, theatre, the Abbey, art, architecture, Socratic method, nightly rosary, Gregorian chant, philosophy, Bump Out, Fall foliage, cigars, soccer, wingtips, tweed blazers, Bolton Orchards, Cumberlands, the Virginian Reel, the Catillion, chorus, and Thesis... just to name a few.

My 15th year to my 19th year was spent near and around him and I will never ever forget that time nor him.

Thank you, Mr. Schmitt.

God rest your soul!

If I had it my way I'd be on a plane right now heading to Boston for his funeral... and would have just left a note (just kidding Pudge, well sort of...)

What's Up Doc?

So, recently I have noticed that our sweet little Simeon has been looking a bit... orange lately, especially his cute tiny nose and toes. Pudge and I lovingly call him carrot toes.

After doing some research, turns out it's all the beta-carotene and Vitamin A rich filled "orange" baby foods I have been feeding him that is causing his discoloration. You see, the "green" foods gave him an awful rash on the ol' buttocks so I cut them completely out of his diet.

So 'tis true what they say, "You are what you eat!"

What To Do?

My husband recently gave me this option:

a last minute, quick get-a-way or new furniture?

I dream about getting out of this stinkin' hell hole for a bit

BUT

our putrid and stained furniture dates back to Abraham Lincoln!

I did not think this would be such a hard choice...

I'm a Big Kid Now...

Our sweet Simeon is officially a crawler and sitter!! Simeon, who is 6 months, beat Constantine by one month in this category. I did not see that coming.

And We're Off...

Tomorrow we head to Woodstock for my husband's sister's wedding this weekend.

I am beyond excited! I just love weddings and anything that has to do with them. Mary asked me to be a bridesmaid and, as much as I am excited to be, my initial thought was GASP! how ever am I going to stuff this stocky, chubby, post-baby body into the lovely dress that she picks out? It's cool, though. I am over it.

I usually start packing a week before and am always thankful that I do. A few trips ago I put together a packing list for the kids that I print out before each trip and through out the week I slowly check off the list. That way I am not frazzled the day before or day of departure. I do NOT work well under pressure.

You can see that Constantine wrote me a little note on my list. I think it says, "I am King and Leader of all."

The kids and I will be in Illinois for nearly three weeks. John will be flying home right after the wedding and then flying back ten days later for his friend's ordination. I have never been away from him for 10 days. Yikes! As much as we will miss him I know I will enjoy spending time with his parents and I know they will enjoy having the boys with them for all that time!

Cheers! I hope you all have a wonderful May!!!

Just confirming how different these boys look at 11 weeks.
